Matty Henson was a much sought after player by pro clubs due to consistently strong performances for Egremont Rangers in the NCL. Signing ahead of 2021 season Matty hit his straps immediately and was a major try threat from dummy half. He has now made the starting 9 jersey his own in 2023 and had the following thoughts ahead of the new season in 2023.

'Workington being my closest professional club has always been my club and I've followed Town since I was young, so to enter my 3rd season with them is something I'm very proud of and I hope to continue my career here for many years to come. My hopes for the season is to finish as high as possible with at least a play off position and finish the season strongly as see where that takes us'

Matty has also been named vice-captain for 2023!
