BEAR WILLIAMS COMMITS TO TOWN FOR 2027!

Workington Town are delighted to confirm that Bear Williams will remain with the club for the 2027 season.

Williams joined Town in early 2026 and quickly established himself as an important member of the squad, producing a consistently impressive campaign in the Blue and White.

His performances were recognised at the end-of-season Presentation Night, where Williams was named Workington Town’s Times & Star Newsquest Player of the Year.

Now, with a new season on the horizon and Brad Singleton preparing to take charge as Head Coach, Williams has committed his future to Town despite interest from elsewhere.

SINGLETON: “BEAR IS AN OUTSTANDING COMPETITOR”

New Head Coach Brad Singleton is delighted to have Williams remain part of his squad as he begins to shape his team for 2027.

“It’s always really positive when a player chooses to remain at the club despite having interest from elsewhere. That shows a belief in the club, the direction we’re heading and the environment we’re trying to build, so I’m pleased Bear has committed to staying with us.

“From the games I’ve watched, and from everything I’ve heard from the staff who have worked with him, Bear is an outstanding competitor and a professional. He takes his rugby seriously, works hard and wants to improve.

“The game is getting quicker every year and fatigue is becoming an increasingly important factor. Having a prop with Bear’s fitness and ability to keep working under fatigue is a massive asset for us and something I believe will suit the way we want to play.

“What excites me most is that Bear has big aspirations in the game and wants to see how far he can take his career. That tells me he’s hungry, and those are the type of players we want in our environment.

“I think Bear will benefit from the culture we’re building, but our environment and the players around him will benefit from having someone with his attitude in it.

“I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing how far we can push his game.”

WILLIAMS: “I’M REALLY DELIGHTED TO BE STAYING”

Williams is equally excited about continuing his journey with Town and believes the club can enjoy a successful 2027 campaign under Singleton.

“I’m really delighted to be staying on with Workington Town.

“They’ve been great to me since I’ve arrived at the club and I believe we can have a great year.

“I’m excited with the vision of the club, especially under Brad Singleton as our new coach.

“I’m ready to work hard and turn things round so we can have a successful season.”

Williams’ decision to remain in West Cumbria provides an important boost for Singleton as preparations for 2027 continue.

After making a strong impression during his first season in the Blue and White and earning the recognition of the Times & Star, Williams will now look to build on that platform and take his game to another level.

With Singleton highlighting his fitness, work ethic, competitiveness and desire to improve, Williams is set to play an important role as Town begin a new chapter in 2027.

Bear, welcome back for 2027!
