Workington Town RLFC are absolutely delighted to announce that local transport company No Name Travel Ltd have agreed to become the principle partner of the club's charitable arm, The Workington Town Community Trust for the next 2 years!

A main sector of their business is to supply school transport contracts and transporting and assisting people with transport needs is a huge passion and ties in to the trust desire to bring sport, leisure and recreational opportunities to demographics from young to old.

More details about their services and company themselves can be found on their website https://www.nonametravel.com/

Director Vicky Brown had the following to say on the partnership;

“We wanted to get involved with the trust as giving back to the community is something that (both personally and as a business) we feel is incredibly important. As 75% of our business comes from School and Adult Social Care Transport, it aligns perfectly with committing to support the trust. It’s also a really exciting and rewarding project and I have loved working with the team so far at Workington Town Community Trust finding ways to build it into something with incredible potential. The confidence it builds in the people using the programme is something really special and we are all extremely excited to build on the work that has already been started!”

Interim Chairman Graeme Peers added;

'It's absolutely fantastic news that No Name Travel Ltd have added their support to the charitable trust entity of the club, we have been striving to get to this point for a substantial period of time and there has been a number of meetings and time spent between Vicky and our General Manager Gary Murdock to get to this point and it's exciting to see what we can achieve together. Employing a trust manager and then building on that first step has seen many impactful activities already take place and with security of funding allows us to do even more. However as with all areas of the club it is also great to work with like minded and passionate people who share the vision and the commitment to our pledge. The support given by TDA and now No Name Travel Ltd is humbling but also incredibly exciting as we share ideas and now build our delivery team to support our local community. The diverse range of teams at the club allows us to offer a wide range of sporting and leisure based options that will make a positive difference to peoples lives of all ages.'

The trust has been making substantial progress in line the clubs 2027 pledge which included a commitment to creating sustainable and rewarding charitable foundation that will inspire and positively influence our community and the support provided to the trust by No Name Travel Ltd to accelerate that progress builds upon the significant contribution of TDA (The Decommissioning Alliance) who also shared the clubs vision and provided funding to employ a part time manager.

The club have recently recruited Debbie Smith as manager who has extensive experience in the education sector and can be contacted at foundation@townrlfc.co.uk as her positive impact in the role is already being felt around the area!

Alison Young, Social Impact Manager for TDA (The Decommissioning Alliance) had the following to say on their involvement with the trust and club;

'As proud sponsors of Workington Town Rugby League Club, TDA is committed to fostering a love for sports among young people. We believe in the power of sport to inspire, educate and unite communities. Our shared goal is to get as many kids as possible involved in sports, helping them develop essential life skills and a lifelong passion for physical activity. Since speaking with club officials it was obvious they had a passion to use the platform of the club to raise the awareness of the benefits of sport and leisure and our partnership goes from strength to strength into 2025!'

The collaborative work between the club, the Community Trust and TDA was evident last Friday when the Fibrus Community Stadium hosted a superb Brilliant Cumbria day attended by over 150 children and 14 schools and No Name Travel were also involved by helping transport the school children to the ground free of charge!

The day is a sign of many things to come as we all aim to impact our community!

Look out for a superb video from the day on our social media later today!
