TOYOTA FUND FOR A BETTER TOMORROW BACKS TOWN'S COMMUNITY TRUST!

Workington Town Community Trust receive significant donation to help improve facilities!

Workington Town's Community Trust - Make a Difference has successfully applied for and received a significant donation from Toyota's Fund for a better tomorrow scheme.

The fund is an initiative that enables Toyota and Lexus centres to support local charities, schools and community projects with a grant of up to £2000. Toyota aim to help improve the quality of life and the environment in local communities across the UK.

Main shirt sponsor Myers & Bowman's Stephen Calvin contacted the club to make us aware of the fund and Town director Graeme Peers (pictured receiving the ceremonial cheque from Stephen Calvin of Myers & Bowman) submitted a project plan based on improving the portacabins changing area to the Derwent end of the stadium.

The plan is to make a Community Hub base for the Workington Town Community Trust work in the area and to improve additional changing facilities. 

The application was successful, and Town's charitable arm have been donated £1800!

The overall plan involves upgrading / maintaining the portacabins to provide a safe, secure and dry area for users of the Town facilities to get changed in and the improvements will include:

• Electric connected to all parts of the Community hub buildings.
• Install signage to identify the area and highlight which companies support the Trust's work.
• Repair or replace broken windows.
• Make safe warm up area.
• Improve access to the Main stand enclosure via steps.
• Install heating.
• Improve accessibility and tidy up the surrounding area
• Painting 

Also part of the project is to plant a tree to represent every individual beneficiary of the changing facility so to positively improve our environment. Plans are to work with local organisations to ensure those trees are planted where they are most needed and Myers & Bowman have committed to taking part in those activities! 

It is further good news for the Workington Town Community Trust with The Blackfinch Group also donating a significant amount(website Blackfinch )   

That donation came courtesy of Carl Porter who is now an offical a Workington Town representative in the Lancashire area. Blackfinch have donated a significant amount to support our community work and are now an official Community Trust partner as are Myers & Bowman and G&AM Lawson who donated and delivered the portacabins.

What does Workington Town Community Trust do?

The support allows us to carry on the good work we have been carrying out initially by ex-community lead Jamie Doran in the area and with further plans in place and staffing close to being finalised Workington Town Community Trust will continue to 'Make a difference' in 2023!

We have supported mainly educational facilities in the area, both primary and secondary and have plans to positively impact more members of society to improve the lives and well being of our community!
