TOWN ANNOUNCE 2027 SIGNING!

Town is proud to announce we have signed Jaiden Tallantire for 2027 and 2028!
Workington Town are delighted to announce the signing of 18-year-old local prospect Jaiden Tallantire, who has committed his future to the club on a two-year deal through to the end of the 2028 season.
The highly-rated youngster has attracted strong local interest but has chosen to continue his development with his hometown club, with Town believing he has all the ingredients to develop into an outstanding professional rugby league player.
Tallantire is a versatile back capable of playing full-back or stand-off, while also able to cover at centre, giving the Town coaching staff another exciting option within the squad.
The teenager has developed through the local rugby league pathway, representing Seaton Rangers before spending time with Hensingham ARLFC U18s and the Hull RLFC Academy.
His development has also taken him onto the international community stage, with Jaiden recently representing the England Community Lions U19s on their tour of France.
A Player Town Know Well
Although this is Jaiden's first professional contract with the club, he is certainly no stranger to the Town environment.
He has been training with the first team for more than 12 months, having initially joined up with the squad during the 2025 season.
Current Head Coach and incoming Head of Rugby Jonty Gorley has been impressed with Jaiden from the very beginning.
“Jaiden first came to us in the middle of the 2025 season to help with his preparations for the England Community Lions programmes,” Gorley explained.
“He immediately impressed me with the way he could slot into full-back and half-back seamlessly, particularly for a young player who was only 17 at the time.”
Gorley has also praised the youngster's attitude and character throughout his development.
“He's confident, communicates well and has a great future ahead of him. This year he completed the full pre-season with us and his fitness was up to speed.”
Jaiden has continued to balance his development between Town and his community club, regularly training with the first team while also representing Seaton Rangers.
His recent England Community Lions experience provided another important step in his progression.
“He's been on the recent Community Lions U19 tour to France and done really well,” Gorley added.
“Everyone involved in his development should be applauded. He is a great young man and we look forward to seeing him excel as a professional rugby league player.”
A Big Future Ahead
For Town, securing Jaiden's services represents another important step in developing local talent and providing a pathway from community rugby into the professional game.
Gorley believes the teenager has the ability to go a long way if he continues to apply himself.
“I have no doubt, if Jaiden applies himself correctly, which I'm sure he will, that he has a big future in rugby league.”
“At only 18, I'm excited to see what he can do and how far he can go.”
Tallantire's two-year agreement will see him remain a Workington Town player until 2028, with the club committed to helping him fulfil the considerable potential he has already shown.
And fans won't have to wait long to see their new signing in action.
Jaiden goes straight into contention for this weekend's double-header against Rochdale Hornets at the Fibrus Community Stadium.
The Ladies kick off at 12pm, before the men's side take on Rochdale at 4pm.
After more than a year training alongside the first team, Jaiden now has the opportunity to begin his professional journey in front of the Town faithful.
Welcome to Workington Town, Jaiden!
