TOWN ANNOUNCE OVERSEAS 2027 SIGNING

Town is proud to announce we have signed Harry Fraser for 2027!
Workington Town are delighted to announce the signing of Harry Fraser ahead of the 2027 season, with the talented young playmaker becoming the club’s first new signing for the upcoming campaign.
The versatile youngster arrives at the Fibrus Community Stadium after developing his game in Australia, where he represented Tweed Seagulls Under-20s and also featured in the Newcastle competition for the Northern Hawks, a Newcastle Knights feeder team.
Harry’s performances in Australia caught the attention of York Knights, who signed him for their debut Super League season last year, further demonstrating the potential that Workington Town believe he possesses.
Town had previously attempted to bring Harry to Cumbria ahead of the 2025 season, but the player opted to remain in Australia for another year, believing further experience would better prepare him for a move to the UK.
That patience has now paid off, with Harry agreeing to join Town ahead of the 2027 campaign.
Current Head Coach and incoming Head of Rugby Jonty Gorley is delighted to finally get his man.
“We tried to sign Harry for the 2025 season but he felt another season in Australia would better prepare him for coming to the UK.
“He’s played at a good standard in Oz, playing for Tweed Seagulls U20s and also playing in the Newcastle comp for the Northern Hawks, a Newcastle Knights feeder team.
“Harry must’ve been doing something right last season because York Knights signed him for their debut Super League season.
“We spoke to Harry again recently and he’s gladly decided to join us.”
Harry offers Town plenty of versatility, capable of operating at hooker or half-back, with Gorley confident he can make an impact in either position.
“Harry can play hooker or half and do a job to a high standard in both.
“Very astute attacker with a strong defensive game.”
The signing represents an exciting addition to Town’s squad as preparations begin for the 2027 season and the next chapter under incoming Head Coach Brad Singleton.
With experience developed both in Australia and within the UK system, Harry will now look to establish himself at Workington Town and make his mark in the Championship.
