TOWN APPPOINT VICKY BROWN AS COMMUNITY TRUST DIRECTOR

We have brought a new director of our Community Trust onbard!

Workington Town would like to extend a huge welcome to the Fibrus Community Stadium to Vicky Brown who joins the Workington Town RLFC board as a director overseeing the ever expanding Workington Town Community Trust. Vicky brings her business and entrepreneurial skills as proven by her huge success as owner of No Name Travel Ltd  which is our main Workington Town Community Trust sponsor.

As a club we aim to capitalise on the opportunities ahead of the new Cumberland Sports Village stadium and also the exciting future that comes with the reintroduced Head of Rugby role for Jonty Gorley and the appointment of Brad Singleton as new Head Coach for 2027/28.

Here's Vicky's thoughts on the news;

“I’m incredibly proud and honoured to have accepted an invitation to join the Board of Directors at Workington Town Rugby League Club, taking on the role of Community Trust Director whilst also supporting the club’s commercial and business development ambitions.”

The appointment marks the next step in a relationship that began in 2023, when Vicky was first approached about No Name Travel supporting the Community Trust.

What started as a sponsorship partnership quickly developed into a much deeper connection, with Vicky becoming increasingly involved in helping shape projects, ideas and opportunities for the Trust.

“What started as sponsorship quickly became something much more meaningful,” Vicky explained.

“I found myself becoming more and more invested in the Trust’s success, not just financially, but by contributing ideas, supporting projects, challenging thinking and helping shape new opportunities.”

Since then, Vicky has seen the Community Trust grow from an ambitious idea into an organisation making a significant impact across West Cumbria, supporting young people, families, schools, community groups and vulnerable individuals.

“I’ve had the privilege of watching – and playing a part in helping – Workington Town Community Trust grow from the bare bones of an idea into one of the most impactful community organisations in West Cumbria.”

Vicky believes the role of a rugby club extends far beyond what happens on the pitch, with community at the heart of everything she does.

“A rugby club can be so much more than what happens on the pitch,” she said.

“Supporting the Trust has never felt like sponsorship – it has felt like being part of a shared mission.”

Looking ahead, Vicky is determined to help both the club and the Trust continue to grow, while creating new opportunities for the future.

“Sustainable businesses and thriving communities go hand in hand, and I firmly believe Workington Town is uniquely positioned to deliver both.”

Vicky joins Chairman Graeme Peers, Mark McSherry and Barry Earl on the Workington Town Board of Directors as the club continues to build towards an exciting future, including the move to the new Cumberland Sports Village.

“I’m excited to work alongside my fellow directors, staff, volunteers, sponsors and supporters to help take both the club and the Trust to the next level.”
