Fibrus Launches £50,000 Community Fund

Our main sponsor is looking to support grassroots sport!

Workington Town RLFC is delighted to help spread the word about a fantastic initiative from our main shirt and stadium sponsor, Fibrus, which will once again make a real difference to communities across Cumbria.

The Fibrus Play it Forward Fund has officially returned for 2026, with £50,000 being made available to support children's clubs, grassroots sports teams, and community organisations throughout Cumbria and Northern Ireland.

As a club that understands the importance of community sport and the positive impact it has on young people, we are proud to be associated with a sponsor that continues to invest back into the areas it serves.

Through the Play it Forward Fund, eligible clubs and organisations can apply for grants of up to £1,000 to help cover costs such as equipment, playing kits, facility improvements, coaching resources, travel expenses, and participation fees.

The initiative is designed to remove barriers that can prevent young people from accessing sport and community activities, helping more children and families get involved, stay active, and enjoy the benefits that grassroots sport provides.

Fibrus has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting local communities, not only through the delivery of full-fibre broadband but also through programmes that create lasting opportunities for people across the region.

Many grassroots clubs continue to face financial challenges, making funding opportunities like this more important than ever. Whether it's replacing worn-out equipment, purchasing new kits, or helping improve facilities, this fund could provide a significant boost to local organisations.
