REPORT: TOWN LADIES VS ROCHDALE

Our ladies looked to remain unbeaten on Sunday!
Workington Town Ladies continued their impressive start to the 2026 season with a commanding 26-0 victory away to Rochdale Hornets, extending their unbeaten run and making it three league wins from three.
Travelling to Greater Manchester to face the newly promoted side, Town knew they would face a determined Rochdale outfit eager to test themselves against one of the form teams in the division. However, the visitors produced a disciplined and clinical performance to leave with another valuable two points.
The opening exchanges were competitive, with both sides struggling to build sustained momentum as errors and strong defensive efforts interrupted the flow of the game. Town created the first real opportunity early on but were unable to convert it, while Rochdale also showed signs of promise with ball in hand.
The breakthrough eventually arrived midway through the first half.
A well-worked attacking move created space for Caitlin Jenkinson, who showed excellent footwork to weave her way through the defence and touch down. Keeley Chatters added the extras to hand Town a deserved lead.
With confidence growing, Town began to control possession and territory, forcing Rochdale to spend long periods defending their own line.
Their persistence paid off again shortly before the break. Leonie Bragg burst through the defensive line before producing a perfectly timed pass to Kacey Currie, who raced clear to score beneath the posts. Chatters maintained her perfect record from the tee to give Town a healthy advantage at halftime.
Rochdale enjoyed their best spell of possession just before the interval, but Town's defensive resolve ensured they went into the sheds with their line intact.
The visitors picked up where they left off after the restart. Following strong work from the forward pack, Georgia Naylor powered her way over under the posts to extend Town's lead and put further distance between the two sides.
Defensively, Town continued to impress throughout the second half. Whenever Rochdale threatened, the visitors stood firm, forcing errors and turning defence into attack.
As the game entered its closing stages, Town found another gear. Nikita Misfud showcased her strength and determination to fight her way over despite multiple defenders attempting to halt her progress, adding another well-earned score to the tally.
There was still time for one final moment of celebration. Bethani Fearns marked her return after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a try on the final play of the game, capping a memorable comeback and sealing an impressive afternoon for the visitors.
The 26-0 victory continues an excellent run for Workington Town Ladies, who remain unbeaten in 2026 and continue to build momentum both in league and cup competitions.
Attention now turns to Sunday's home fixture against Illingworth. Town will be looking to continue their strong form when they host the visitors at 2pm at Workington Zebras, The Paddock, and would love to see plenty of support from the Town faithful as the squad looks to keep its unbeaten run alive.
