ROCHDALE CHAMPIONSHIP CLASH ROUNDUP

On Sunday, our mens Town squad travelled to Rochdale for their Championship fixture.

Our Town Men's Squad continued their 2026 Betfred Championship campaign on Sunday with an away fixture against Rochdale Hornets at Crown Oil Arena.

Town came out flying with Jake Carter placing a perfectly weighted kick for Mason Lewthwaite to score the first after just 4 minutes. Town then had a number of sets on their own line but continued to turn Rochdale away.

Jake Carter then put in a towering bomb which fullback, Zarrin Galea, contested and forced an error from the Rochdale fullback, Braden Leigh then toed the ball on a couple of times and placed in down to go over for Towns second of the day at the 30 minute mark.

On the final play of the half Rochdale put in an early kick catching Town off guard which made the halftime score 8-4.

The second half started as an arm wrestle and after 20 minutes Rochdale scored back to back tries in the 25th and 30th minute before getting another in the 35th, taking the score to 20-8.

Town never backed down though as they scored through a great display of passing which was finished by Rio Corkill and with 30 seconds left Town were only behind 20-14.

A last ditch effort on the final play wasn't enough for Town as the final score was 20-14.

Our next match is this Friday when we face Super League giants, St Helens at home in Round 3 of the Challenge Cup!
