ZARRIN GALEA WINS JOINT LEAGUE 1 PLAYER OF THE YEAR!

Award shared with Lewis Else of Rochdale Hornets.

Full back Zarrin Galea capped a fine season in 2025 by being named joint Betfred League 1 player of the year alongside Rochdale Hornets half back Lewis Else at the annual Rugby League awards dinner held in Manchester.

Zarrin spoke at the awards and said the following when asked by presenter Brian Carney about who he'd like to thank on his journey.

'I'd like to thank everyone at Workington right from the top, the board, the directors, the coach, Jonty's been going through a rough time and out in Cumbria there's just a lot of tough people and where I'm from in Australia there's tough people there as well, it's a working class society up there and I'm stoked to win this award, chuffed to bits!'

Zarrin, who also picked up the 2025 Workington Town top try scorer award and the Derwent Park Supporters Club player of the year at Town's recent Presentation night was delighted to win the award and had the following to say on social media;

'Without everyone at the club this award never happens, this award is just as much yours as it is mine, Up the Town!'

It was a fantastic night to cap an enjoyable season.
