WORKINGTON TOWN PRESENTATION NIGHT 2025!

The winners and grinners from 2025!
Workington Town's 2025 season was brought to it's conclusion at a packed Northern Competitions marquee on Saturday evening.
We would like to place on record our sincere thanks for everyone's support in 2025 from our new investment via new shareholders, sponsors and partners, to our staff, coaches, players and volunteers who worked so hard across the season and played such a huge part in the progress of the club and of course our supporters who've played their part in such and enjoyable 80th year and season.
A massive thank you to the funds and financing created by the supporters clubs, Travellers Rest Supporters Club, The Blue Knights support group and the Derwent Park Supporters Club which all 3 have supplied financial support and assistance to help us strengthen the squad and club revenue streams all of which play a important part in creating accurate and workable budgets.
On the pitch the season culminated in a much improved 2nd place finish in Betfred League 1 under head coach Jonty Gorley and we now look forward to evolving our squad to make sure we are competitive as part of the merged Championship division, with a consistent set of regular fixtures and more home games!
Off the pitch our partnership with Fibrus broadband has been instrumental on a number of fronts to provide the sustainability and solidity needed to develop the club and was great to receive the following message from Fibrus group MD Colin Hutchinson which confirms that Fibrus will remain Main stadium and front of shirt sponsors for both the men's and Ladies team in 2026!
'On behalf of everyone at Fibrus, I want to congratulate Workington Town RLFC on an incredible season, and another brilliant year of our partnership.
It’s been a privilege to stand alongside the club as proud sponsors as it goes from strength to strength, and witness the passion, commitment, and community spirit that make this team so special.
From Press Conferences with local kids clubs, to social videos with players, to celebrating 80 years in style, we’ve loved working with everyone at the club to bring the partnership to life, and share that community spirit with everyone in Workington and beyond.
That’s why we’re thrilled to be continuing our partnership for another season. Together, we look forward to building on this year’s success and creating even more exciting opportunities for the club, its fans, and the wider community.'

'There are a few players who spring to mind when I was making my decision, Jude and Spencer, in their first years as pro players have done a great job and look like they've done it for a couple of years. But what sets this lad aside is his dedication to improve himself at this level. It hasn't been plain sailing for him, he's had his ups and downs but throughout all of this he has endeavoured to keep practicing when everyone else has left the training field, as you have now all seen this has paid off no end. He is now a name that's one of the first on my team sheet and to see him grow as the season went on is why, in his 1st year as a pro, and fittingly got named in the team of the month, he fully deserves the most improved player award, well done Dominic Wear!'
- WORKINGTON TOWN RLFC PLAYER OF THE YEAR - decided by Jonty Gorley

'This wasn't an easy decision as there are quite a few players that I could've picked for this award, just showing how much the players have bought into what we are trying to achieve. One player in particular just kept coming to the front of my thoughts. Playing big minutes in his position isn't easy and to do it so consistently, for so long and to such a high standard is testament to him. With only 3 errors all year, in his position is absolutely exceptional and sums his whole work ethic and ethos up. Keeping your peers accountable is another great quality that I look for and he does this constantly in games and at training. All these qualities are why, in such an important year for himself and his family, this fella is my captain and my coaches and Workington Towns player of the year, well done Stevie Scholey.'
