Workington lose to Halifax in their last match of the season

Injury-hit Workington Town went down 46-26 in their last match of the Kingstone Press Championship Shield season at Halifax RLFC, where they arrived with just 14 fit players and played with only one substitute.

The Cumbrians were also twice reduced to 12 men after Liam McAvoy and Marc Shackley were sin-binned for separate offences, but were still in touch at half-time when they trailed 22-12.

James Woodburn-Hall scored two of Halifax's eight tries, the others coming from Ed Barber, Will Sharp, Elliott Morris, Luke Ambler, Mitch Cahalane and Ben Johnston.

Theerapol Ritson, Jason Mossop, Jamie Doran, Matty Gee and Dec Hulme were Town's try-scorers.
