Vice Presidents Evening Friday 14th May
It is a Vice-Presidents Club members event, but we have some places left
which we want to make available to members of the public.
• Introduction/welcome from the Club Chairman Mr David Bowden
• Hot & Cold Buffet Meal
• Fundraising
• Guest Speaker – Mr Garry Schofield OBE
• Your vote on the next entrant to the Workington Town Hall of Fame
Garry Schofield OBE: Within a year of entering the professional game with Hull FC, he was a full British Lion, making his debut as an 18-year old on the 1984 tour of Australia.
In 1985 he re-wrote the record books by scoring four tries as Great Britain beat New Zealand in a test series at Central Park, Wigan. He moved from Hull FC to his home town club Leeds in 1987, and in 1990, as vice-captain, he was outstanding in Great Britain’s series triumph in New Zealand and then in the famous victory over Australia at Wembley. He was voted 1991 man of Steel and in 1994 was awarded the OBE for services to sport.
The price for this function is £15
If you are interested in attending please contact Tony Boyd 07764880105, or Frank Gilmour on 07527692042.
