Current league 1 coach of the year signs 2 season agreement!

Workington Town are delighted to announce the appointment of Anthony Murray as head coach for the next two seasons.

Highly experienced Murray has had spells in the community game at Millom and in the professional game at Barrow, Gloucester and North Wales Crusaders since 2014.

Murray has been nominated as League 1 Coach of the Year in the last few seasons and won the award last year. He is nominated again this year after North Wales reached the League 1 play off semi final.

Club chairman John Pleasants said: Anthony was the stand out in a strong field. He is highly experienced and knows how to put a strong and effective squad for a very competitive division.

Murray said ‘I’ve played for Town so know its heritage and its passionate supporters. I’ve also had some great matches over the years in Wales and here in Workington.

I’m already hard at work with the Director of Rugby Gary Murdock and we’ll start to announce who’ll be playing on Derwent Park over the coming weeks and months. I’m really looking forward to meeting our group of fans who are renowned in the game for their allegiance, tenacity and passion!

The club would also like to confirm the appointment, as aluded to in the article of Gary Murdock as Director of Rugby.
