TOWN RETURN WITH SOME 20/20 CRICKET FUN!

Annual Wilf Harrison Memorial Challenge arranged as links strengthen!

On the 28th August Workington Town will return to the sports field but not in their usual domain.

Through close collaboration with the town's cricket club, the two clubs are delighted to announce that they will play a 20/20 style memorial challenge cricket match in honour of Wilf Harrison who is fondly remembered by both clubs. 

Wilf's daughter Kerry, who is following in her father's footsteps as a board member of Workington Town said:

'As part of our ongoing and determined efforts to strengthen our sporting links with all sports clubs in the area, it is very touching to see two clubs - who hold a special place in our family's hearts - come together to assist each other and above all have some fun. My dad would be very proud to see this joint venture'

The aim is for the game to become an annual event. Kristian Moffat, chair of Workington CC said:

'After a difficult time for both clubs were delighted to welcome Workington Town to the club again after they sponsored one of our games last year. Its very fitting, and an honour, to play in Wilf's name, and we look forward to a good evening of fun and building a closer bond between the two clubs.

We know there are some keen cricket fans in the Town ranks and there's certainly some Town diehards in ours so we are really looking forward to getting outside and testing the Town lads' skills in a different arena. 

We already have relationships with other local sporting organisations and this is another one we are really pleased to jump into and hopefully grow in the years to come "

The game will start at 5:30pm on Friday 28th August. 

The bar will be open, and Cocktails by Callum  will be on hand to provide further refreshment options.

We welcome all sponsors, friends, and supporters of both clubs to join us for a fun night and to remember a great man.
