Adam Walne's Salford return

Thursday 28th March 2013

Adam Walne's Salford return Story in brief:
Workington Town just want to update our fans over the move by Adan Walne back to Salford City Reds and his probable inclusion in the Bank Holliday Monday game against Bradford Bulls.
When Adam came to the club last year, there was a gentlemans agreement that if a Super League club approached us then we would not stand in his way, obviously this had to be in the best interests of the club.
Early last week Salford's Alan Hunte spoke with Mark Fryer about Adams availability, Clearly Adam was excited and he has a burning ambition to play at that level.  All the fans will have seen that in the performances he put in for the club.  Last week against Batley Adam played for the full 80 minutes, a sensational effort.
As a club we are dissapointed to lose such a talented player but on the other hand we are excited to see 'one of ours' go onto the Super League stage following Sean Lunt and Adam Sidlow.  Others who have gone on to play at that level include Chris Annakin, who recieved great praise from coach Richard Agar this week and Dave Peteresen who done well for Hull KR during their dual reg stints with Town.
Many things are said about dual reg but in our case we are sticking to the spirit of the agreement and Walne, Petersen and Annakin are all successes of our approach.
To put things straight, Adam was released and not transferred in accordance with our agreement. So maybe the local press should put that straight and approach the club officially to get a quote. They released Kayle Connor's name when we hadn't officially signed him, which created a real problem for us with the South Wales club.
So good look to Adam, he has served the club well and you never know we might see him playing back at DP - in either Red or Blue!!!!!
